Our Club Projects
Aside from building plastic models for individual enjoyment and competing in local Regional and National competitions, we are also involved in local museum displays. The American Airpower Museum in Farmingdale, NY, and the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City, NY are two museums where we have displayed our member’s talents. Occasionally, we have had opportunities to display models at libraries and craft fairs. For the past two years, our club members models have been on display at the Levittown Public Library for the month of October.
We have encouraged young children to be involved in the hobby by hosting Make-n-Take secessions at museums and shows. Parents get to interact with their child in building a kit and the child gets to take it home.
During the Iraq War our chapter ‘Supported Our Troops’ by collecting models and hobby materials and shipped to designated troops. During our soldiers down time they were given a piece of home to relieve some battle strees by building a kit. We continue this donation whenever possible. See "We Support Our Troops' in the left column for pictures.
In a small part, our club supports our Vets. At our Noreastcon 45 in 2016 we collected $300.00 donated to the Nassau County Fireman's Wounded Warrior Project. The Blue Star Mothers collected $250.00 and our club added another $50.
